Introduction

'Conspiracy stuff' is now shorthand for unspeakable truth.

The definitive history of the 9/11 Truth Movement still has to be written, but its internal logic of development will be approximately parallel to the process that many of us have gone through in investigating the myriad claims about what really happened on that fateful day. Formulated in broad terms this development will have gone from skepticism about the official version, to the idea that the administration had foreknowledge, to the idea that the administration just let it happen on purpose, and--as a final and most disturbing step--to the idea that elements within the administration had an active role in perpetrating the whole tragedy.

Personally speaking my own skepticism about the official version started with the photo-analyses of the damage done to the Pentagon by flight 77. The problem is that a Boeing 757 is too big to have disappeared in a hole a few yards wide and then leaving only a little debris in which no bodies, luggage, black boxes, jet motors, etc. were found. This mystery opened the door wide to further questions. For example, questions about the incompetence of the FAA and NORAD in defending appropriately US airspace; questions about the why and how of the collapse of World Trade building 7, which was not hit by any airplane and in which only a few fires were active; questions about the possibility of fore-knowledge by the Bush administration and deliberately not taking defensive measures; then, as a final 2 by 4 to wake me up, questions about the way WTC 1 and 2 collapsed, with some physicists and demolition experts arguing for the strong probability that the buildings came down because of controlled demolition through internally placed explosives.

Now, after reading multiple analyses of the collapses of the WTC Towers as well as WTC Building 7 and the damage to the Pentagon, it is obvious that the official version is not to be trusted and that still unidentified rogue elements within the government had an active hand in the events of 9/11. As to be expected, the government is not vigorously investigating itself, which leaves the field wide open for a growing network of scientists, scholars, investigative reporters and former law enforcement and intelligence agents to piece the known facts together and pursue the really relevant questions. It can be safely stated that so far three main hypotheses regarding what really happened on 9/11 are competing for the mind of the American public and citizens of the world. These three main hypotheses are the following (with each having different versions):

I. The official version
II. The Let It Happen on Purpose or LIHOP-hypothesis
III. The Make It Happen on Purpose or MIHOP-hypothesis

They are presented here in order of comfortability, going stepwise from the official conspiracy theory through ever more uncomfortable and seemingly outrageous hypotheses, ending with possibly the most probable and least comfortable one, the esoteric version:

I.a. The Official Version or The Kean-Zelikow conspiracy theory:

Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda planned, and 19 Arab hijackers executed, a most daring plan that almost flawlessly circumvent all US defensive measures and transform 3, almost 4, airplanes into missiles delivered at landmark symbols of the US imperialist system. WTC 1, 2 and 7 collapsed from the damage. Everybody is stunned and nobody is blamed. It was a systemic failure.

I.b. The Official Version amended with charges of incompetence:

Same as the official version, but instead of the accentuation on the brilliant planning and execution of the plot the focus is on the incompetence or criminal negligence of the supposed guardians of the nation. The FAA and NORAD are the main suspects.

II.a. The Let It Happen on Purpose or LIHOP-hypothesis (passive version):

Officials knew an attack was imminent and purposefully refrained from taking any active defensive measures. They just let the terrorist execute their plans without opposition, nor active help, trusting the incompetence of the CIA, FBI, FAA and NORAD. Quite some overlapping agendas were thus advanced.

II.b. The Let It Happen on Purpose or LIHOP-hypothesis (active version):

Officials knew an attack was imminent and purposefully sabotaged all of the possible preventive and defensive measures by the CIA, FBI, FAA and NORAD. Especially the war game exercises that day contributed to the success of the plan. Rogue elements within the US Government, especially in the Pentagon and the intelligence community are primarily responsible.

III.a. The Make It Happen on Purpose or MIHOP-hypothesis (Ameri-centric version):

An inter-locked and well-disciplined network of lone operators and Secret Teams operating within the White House, Pentagon, FEMA, CIA, FBI, FAA and NORAD, coordinated by a High Cabal of a very few key insiders planned, executed and covered-up the 9/11 events and the Anthrax scare even while framing Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda as the patsies. The Pentagon was hit by anything but a commercial airliner and WTC 1, 2 and 7 collapsed by controlled demolition. They subsequently pushed diverse agendas like the militarily invasion of oil-rich central Asia, curb civil liberties, enrich the military-industrial complex, etc. all for the sake of the main beneficiaries of American Imperialism.

III.b. The Make It Happen on Purpose or MIHOP-hypothesis (trans-national version):

Not only US Secret Teams and a US High Cabal involved, but also other teams lodged deep inside foreign governments and coordinated by both US and non-US members of the trans-national Power Elite. The issues for them go beyond oil, money and power, which for them are merely tools to advance, by a subtle dialectic process, the crumbling of the US political and economic system and the emergence of a fascist New World Order. In this case the Neo-conservatives and Zionists are the second line of patsies in case the official version of blaming OBL and Al-Qaeda fails.

III.c. The Make It Happen on Purpose or MIHOP-hypothesis (esoteric version):

Same as the previous one, but with the added perspective that the main network of the High Cabal of the trans-national Power Elite is comprised of the surviving remnant of Weishaupt's Order of Illuminati and other like-minded groups, who are mostly to be classified on spiritual levels as Fallen Ones, Adepts of the Left-handed Path, incarnated Fallen Angels, black magicians, etc. They are the organized counter-force to the spiritual and civilizational gains made by the world-wide Masonic and Theosophical Enlightenments and like nothing better than to enslave mankind in spiritual darkness, material poverty and intellectual ignorance, while they live of the fat of the land and try to postpone their own day of judgement.

So far the different hypothesis and their variants.

Another helpful classification to keep one's investigation somewhat structured is to group all the 9/11 events in the following three groups:

I. The events on 9/11:
The hijacked planes; the hijackers; the hitting of the WTC and its collapse; the Pentagon; flight 93; the defensive measures taken by the responsible agencies; the war game exercises; behaviour of the US political leadership, etc. The analysis of the exact time-line is most helpful here.

II. The investigation:
The investigative reports by different agencies and the 9/11 Commission Report with all their accuracies, distortions and omissions; the handling and withholding of evidence; conflict of interest of the investigators, especially those on the 9/11 Commission; reporting and investigations by the main-stream media, etc. The calm and dispassionate scientific attitude of Dr. David Ray Griffin in analyzing the 9/11 investigations is to be commended here.

III. The aftermath:
The creation of the Department of Homeland Security; the US Patriot Act; The invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq; the change of the global geo-political situation thereby effected; war-profiteering by well-connected corporations; human rights abuses by the US military; domestic surveillance activities by the Bush administration; military, economic and financial overstretch of the US government, etc. Helpful here is the investigation of the long-term policy-planning organizations like the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Project for the New American Century (PNAC).

In case one gets 'comfortable' with the MIHOP hypothesis and one can see the pattern connecting the events of 9/11 with their cover-up and intended political consequences, the big follow-up questions should be a) about the identity and motives of the responsible rogue networks, b) how they can be smoked out and brought to justice and c) how to prevent a recurrence of such politically motivated evil as 9/11 was. Practically speaking this is quite a tall order.

Some of the desired items implied here would be that a) true patriots within the US government should become aware of treasonous elements within their midst and blow the whistle on them, b) a really independent 9/11 investigation should be conducted by possibly the Attorney General of New York, c) because of the corrupt nature of the Republican and Democratic Parties a libertarian and constitutionalist third party is most desirable to take over the executive and legislative responsibilities, d) people should help each other educate themselves about all issues involved and last, but not least, e) the do's and don'ts of spiritual warfare through prayer, meditation and exhortation should be studied, for we wrestle here with "spiritual wickedness in high places." (Eph 6:12)
